A Natural Way to Heal

Reiki was developed in Japan in 1922 by Dr Usui Mikao. It is founded on the ancient belief that the human body is energised not only by what we eat and how we feel but by an energy that flows through and around us. This Life force energy is known by various terms- ‘Ki’ (Japanese), Ti or Ki (Hawaiian), Chi (Chinese), or ‘Prana’(Sanskrit). This energy can now be scientifically measured, therefore generating acceptance in mainstream society. It is referred to as the ‘biofield’. My experience of connecting to this energy encourages feelings of love, peace, and acceptance of yourself and others. All of which combined allow a state of grace. When this energy is held deliberately for a prolonged period of time, it can increase the body’s ability to facilitate the natural balancing process. Reiki isn’t magic or mystical, it simply encourages the restoration of the body’s normal function naturally. Your body has an amazing ability to heal itself, not only when you cut yourself, break a bone, or get sick. It can also harness this healing energy to balance your emotions and thoughts. Energy psychology is based on this very fact. Reiki targets areas of the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain and is well known for its capacity to provide pain relief, encourage stress reduction and deep relaxation.
